Christmas in July – Mini Session Giveaway!

I’ve been wanting to do a giveaway of some sort for a while now, so here it is!  WooHoo!  Believe it or not, I am starting to think about Christmas already – and more importantly for you – Christmas Mini Sessions!  I am definitely going to do a mini-session of some sort that will include pricing for either sets of Custom Christmas Cards, or a digital image (for you to use on your own Christmas Cards), or something like that.  These would probably be short 15-30 minute sessions at a specific location on a specific date.  But, since this will be the first time I am offering Holiday Mini-Sessions – I would love to hear your ideas on this!  Leave me a comment about any ideas you have for these sessions – it can be anything from where you think a good outdoor location would be for the sessions, what you would like to see included in the pricing, what dates you would like to see offered for the sessions, whether or not this is something you would be interested in, or feel free to just say hi!  I will number the comments as they come in, and then randomly pick one of the comments to win one of these free mini-sessions!  It’s that easy!  If you want an additional chance to win, post the following on your facebook or email it to all your friends and then come back and leave another comment letting me know you did it and you will get another entry! (What to post:  Enter for a chance to win a free mini-portrait session!  Visit http://clickphotodesignsblog.wordpress.com/2009/07/25/christmas-in-july-mini-session-giveaway/ and leave a comment to enter!)  I will randomly select the winner on Friday, July 31st at 9am – so start commenting!   *** Note – your comment must be on this blog post, and keep in mind these sessions will be in or around the Huntsville area, and you must be able to come to the chosen location :) ***

  1. I have no idea about a location but somewhere with a Christmas tree wold be great, maybe BridgeStreet? As far as dates, I like to get my Christmas cards out the first week of December so I am thinking the sessions should be mid to last October but then Christmas decor isn’t up yet, but you could put up your own tree just about anywhere. Let me know when they are, would love to see if we could do it!

  2. We want to do pictures for our Christmas cards, but I was thinking about doing pictures that weren’t necessarily going to look Christmas-sy so I could give the pictures as gifts as well. I do agree with the idea of assembling a tree somewhere. If you wanted to do multiple sessions in one day, you could set up an area with Christmas-themed decor and just shoot in that area. I can’t think of any areas off the top of my head, but I will work on that and get back to you!

  3. Oh, I think Bridge Street would be great too! They have a great Christmas tree there. Anywhere I’m game to go though, your pictures are fabulous no matter the location!

  4. Bridge Street does sound good. I think Providence might be nice as well. I don’t know what they do to decorate for Christmas, but I’m sure it’s pretty. I’ve seen your work, so I think where ever you do it would be wonderful!

  5. I posted it on my FB page!

  6. For Christmas sessions, I think that maybe a few action shots at a Christmas tree farm might be fun – as an outdoorsy type place – oh and maybe the Botanical Gardens. I like the ideas for Bridge Street and Providence, too!

I like to send my Christmas cards out by mid-December, so I think anytime between 26 Nov and 15 Dec would probably be more appropriate and you’re more likely to find the Christmas decorations at Bridge Street and Providence already out.

    Hope this helps!

  7. Posted to my FB!! :)

  8. I think this is a great idea! I know I sound like everyone else, but as soon as I read this, I thought about Bridge Street. I think Botanical Gardens would be great too. I am partial to outdoor shots so this is why I thought of these places. Also, as quick as you are about turnaround time, I think November would be great so decorations would already be up and still give everyone time to get their cards out!

  9. I think that November would be a good time. I have seen photographers set up their own tree as a background.

Just let me know what you decide.

  10. What about downtown? I don’t know when people start putting up decorations (or how much they decorate), but it might be a location with a few options.

  11. I think Bridge street would be great. They have a lot of places to take photos. Downtown Athens is a idea also. Around all the old historic building. It is really pretty there.

  12. How about the Huntsville Train Depot?

  13. or…

an outdoor neutral scene at a park with old fashioned toys as props?
    trains, bears, blocks?? packages?? wagons??

    old fashioned lights!!!

& i’ll post this to fb as well!!!

Love the other ideas as well!!! Tree farm idea rocks!!! and would be cute with the lights!;)

  14. We did this sort of thing last year with Callie. We went to a local children’s shop where they had a room decorated with a Christmas theme and a Santa. I like your idea above better. Callie really didn’t like Santa, so the pictures turn out horrible. I think we paid around $45-$55 and received 2 5x7s and 4 3x5s or maybe just 4 5x7s.

Maybe the Purple Peanut or some other children’s shop would be willing. I think Bridge Street or Providence would be great as well. I know that Providence decorates for Thanksgiving with corn stalks and hay, so I don’t know when they will decorate for Christmas. I agree that November would be an ideal time for the photo shoot though.

Also, outside of Early Works might be nice with all the colors. Hope this helps. Let us know what you decide. I am sure we will be in.

  15. I posted this on my FB page.

  16. I think that BridgeStreet is a great idea! So is the botanical gardens. I am not sure about everyone elses kids but I do not think that my little one will be to keen on Santa.

  17. I posted on my facebook page.

  18. Would love to win this.

  19. Those are all great ideas! I know the opening of galaxy of lights at the botanical gardens is Nov. 12 if that helps. BTW I loved the pictures you did of the Riddle family! Something that would be neat, if you can’t make it to the Christmas tree farm, is go on one of the mountians and find some trees that resemble Christmas trees and get some pictures of the families putting the ball ornaments on it. I’ve seen a picture similar to that and it’s really neat!

  20. Nothing like home for Christmas. Just elegant and siimple portraits in front of a chimney of a home built christmas tree. Maybe use effects like sephia, B/W or red with B/W only.
